We stayed in the Doll Lodge (2 double bedrooms) in late July for 4 nights. The lodge is the best quality lodge I have stayed in with hot tub and sauna. both rooms have good en-suite facilities (showers no bath) and the lodge had everything we required for a pleasant stay. On arrival the fridge was stocked with a pint of milk and a pint of fresh orange and there were plenty of coffee sachets, tea bags and sugar. The place is remote but that suited us and the scenery and walking round the area is great. We ate in the hotel which provides a good selection of food which we wall enjoyed. There is parking at the lodge. We would definitely return.

Been here a few times & have enjoyed each visit. On previous visits we only called in for drinks after a days walking in the hills. Had a bar lunch this time which was served quickly & was very filling & tasty. Lovely quaint atmosphere & friendly staff makes this ideal for a relaxing visit. Lovely drive on twisting narrow roads to reach here which keeps you on your toes with your driving. Will visit again for a longer stay next time.

Amazingly relaxing hotel. Friendly staff with excellent simple food done well and friendly bar. It feels fantastically remote and ideal for exploring the eastern Cairngorms. Wi-fi only available from the hotel reception area. Lots of accompdation options from bunkhouse, hotel rooms and luxurious lodges.

Just back from a fantastic stay in the Doll Lodge with my partner and wee Jack Russell. Wonderful warm welcome at the Lodge and all you could possibly ask for within the Lodge. By far the best Lodge I have ever stayed in. Modern, clean, excellent facilities with very comfortable furnishings. Big hot tub and great personal sauna. You really feel like you are a million miles away from everything which we loved and at a five star retreat.

Local map from the hotel meant we found a couple of very scenic walks with the most spectacular views for us novice climbers.

We didn’t try the hotel food as took everything we would need and the kitchen utensils and facilities certainly didn’t let us down.

No mobile reception or wifi which we both found perfect as a great way to escape from our usual city life.

We are already planning our next trip back. Highly recommend as a romantic and remote getaway.

We went here for our anniversary and were not disappointed. The lodge was bright, clean and really inviting. The bed was so comfy I took a note of the mattress company when it comes to getting a new one!! The kitchen was well stocked with all the things you would need and then some for a self catering break and we had no difficulties in cooking.
The hot tub was brilliant and was good finn when it got dark because there are different colored light settings!
The restaurant and climbers bar are very welcoming and the service was top notch. The food was delicious and varied with a lot of real ales on offer.
We cycled a bit around Glen Clova and down to Glen Doll and took a walk to Loch Rum. The scenery around the area is very magical looking and I think gives an absolutely spot on example of Scotland’s beauty. The one bit of advice I would give you is to come stocked with all the food and drink you want because there are no real shops close by and the other thing I would say is drive safe when you get to about 3 miles out of Glen Clova. The road is very winding and narrow at parts and we had someone on our side of the road a couple of times and saw a really bad crash on our way up. In speaking to staff at the hotel it happens a lot more than they would like.
I would recommend the lodge to anyone….you won’t be disappointed!

I had been hillwalking a couple of months ago and when I was going home, I passed the hotel and popped in. After just one drink I decided I needed to come back and stay at least a night. So, the other night myself and my partner booked a room for the night and the plan was for a couple of gentle walks. The hotel was very quiet as it was midweek and winter but that suited us both just fine. The room was very clean, warm and the staff were very attentive and welcoming. After a lovely walk we were both hungry and thirsty so had a few drinks along with the steak pie which was delicious. Great sleep and the a full Scottish breakfast the next morning prior to another walk. Definitely recommend the hotel especially if you are a walker and in the area. If the rooms are a bit expensive for you, the hotel has an excellent bunkhouse and I think we will give this a go when we go back in the summer. Two days of pure peace and quiet with no phone signal or wifi ( or at least, none with my provider) but don’t let that put you off, great hotel.

I met some new friends to join the local shoot at Glen Clova and being so far from home chose to stay at the hotel. A warm welcome and a warm room. I actually arrived very late but just in time to get a couple of drinks in. I had a warm welcome and a relaxing talk in the bar with some of the staff. Breakfast was cooked just the way I asked for it, the haggis was great. After a good days shooting I had a relaxing night in the restaurant and finished the night off with a relaxing dram. The climbers bar has a log burner that was pumping out the heat and it was a draw for hotel guests and locals. The room was very clean and tidy, the bath room a little small but it did the job. The only regret is I did not have my wife with me and stay longer. Lovely views, great location, great meals and a good pint of beer; apart from not having my wife with me what more could I ask for.

Short notice walking day plus overnight with old pal. Turned up at 9.30 am, got twin bunkhouse and set off walking! Back at 4.30 – quite posh hotel, but had a great real ale in very atmospheric and friendly climbers’ bar. Moved to tables outside front of hotel, having a sly whisky in the sun – could hardly be more picturesque! Quick shower – very hot! – in small but functional bunkhouse, then back to the bar for beer, food and the worst pool playing you will ever see! (Great wee games room!) Food was absolutely top-notch and plentiful! Bunkhouse had a great wee common room, but it was a bit hot!! (Be fine in the winter) hotel has rooms, bunkhouse and lodges, huge car-park, friendly and able staff.

Will be back with the family! Nice wee booklet with local walks too.
